It was a nice video....if a little repetitious.
So, if I understand it correctly, tv is bad? Already know that. That's whyI don't allow anything onbesides nature shows, How Its Made....Baby First channel...etc. Ok, maybe a good movie in the evenings. We're guilty.

Here you go, some more food for thought:
Since we are concerning ourselves with "bad TV", "TV as idols",etc. there is still no mention about THE COMPUTER. I've heard first hand that TV is "not allowed on our home" "it's devilish", "deceitfull", etc. but this is the one piece not mentioned. I know of some people that play games (warlike, online poker, etc.), and watch their favorite episodes for example: "desperate housewives" yet they condone the TV. Do these topics ever make your heads scratch and make you wonder? Disciple and others, how do you feel about this: First, I want to make clear that I do this to!! Why do we jump on the computer to find any new news within our world say "after church"? I'll use this molokan underground for example: who comes on here to find out times/dates of a funeral? How about a dyestvia that took place that day in church? Is this a bad thing after church? HUMMM...... Since there may be people who don't have access to radios, tv's, or even computers, how would they know what happened in the world we currently live in? By word of mouth only? Are we past that stage now? How about texting on our cell phones? Why does most of our information come through these "wordly instruments"? And to say only TV is bad for your soul.....HUMMM.... Personally, I feel we should use our own judgement no matter what you use! Until next time Americans...... |

You've heard first hand....I've actually lived in a house with no TV for, albeit, brief period...This "philosophy" of no TV has been around as long as I can remember....I think I'm in my mid to late 30's so gauge accordingly. My opinion, this idea is a failure and should be dropped once and for all. Its nothing more than an excuse and excuses are like....well, you know the phrase. You can point to people who have had great success with this ideal and I can also point to horrible failure to. Likewise, you can point to horrible failure with those who have a TV and likewise I can point to good success. The results are for all intents and purposes, mixed. When I was young and went down someone's house with a TV, guess what, I was glued to it. Why? Dude, your 6 year old doesn't grasp the idea of TV being "Pa-honi" particularly when they are watching the Incredibles or Snow White. Sorry to bust your bubble, but they are not watching Pulp Fiction or Fast and the Furious *sarcasm* Lets face facts, its NOT the dog gone TV. Its the...dare I say it....yes I will, cover your ears if you don't want to hear it......PARENTING! If you don't take and active roll into what your kids watch, play, do, etc. Gee, is it such a surprise if they turn out less than you wanted? Maybe they shouldn't allow them to watch Pulp Fiction or any other violent movie/show....but Noooooo, blame the TV and absolve yourself of all such responsibility /facepalm. Indecently taking an active roll on what your kids watch isn't my philosophy...for crying out loud, there commercials on TV and billboards promoting this very exact idea. Maybe there's some common sense there? Instead of constantly hearing beseda's about how the TV is bad, how about hearing something about...oh I don't know, parents being responsible for what their children watch, play, do, etc....or is that taboo? When faith is chained to doctrine, truth becomes heresy and God is forgotten. |

It looks interesting, but didn't know if watching it was morally right, being that its TV and all.
A thorough knowledge of the Bible is the foundation of all clear views of religion. He that is well-grounded in it will not generally be found a waverer, and carried about by every wind of new doctrine. Any system of training which does not make a knowledge of Scripture the first thing is unsafe and unsound. -J. C. Ryle |
