Cave of Forgotten Dreams Trailer
Whenever I’ve been lucky enough to come across petroglyphs on the trail, I am always spellbound. To me, it’s fascinating to think of the people who were there before us, and who, for whatever reason, felt moved enough to create something that could last thousands of years.
This Spring, Werner Herzog – who occasionally delves into the world of documentaries with films like Grizzly Man and Encounters at the End of the World – will explore the Chauvet Cave in France. The cave is not open to the public and features some of the best preserved cave paintings on the planet … some of which are over 32,000 years old.
The film will be released in 3D (Herzog said it was to better capture the rock formations in the paintings themselves, and he’ll never use the technology again), and will also be shown on the History Channel in the future.
