Walking Across the Country

This week, I stumbled across the very cool web site of a man named Matt, who has a very simple goal – to walk from Rockaway Beach, NY to Rockaway Beach, OR. He doesn’t have a cause, a sponsor, or a specific reason for doing it … and has appropriately named his site I’m Just Walkin’.
He’s got a custom-donated push cart with all of his gear, and has been depending on the kindness of farmers to let him pitch a tent in their yards or otherwise camping off in the woods. So far, he’s covered an impressive amount of distance, and is in currently in the middle of North Dakota. Along the way, he’s posting tons of great pictures and videos and posting pictures of the people he’s met along the way.
Few people get to see the country in this manner, and if you can’t take 9 months off of work to see it for yourself, checking in on Matt once in a while might be a good way to keep your travel appetite satiated.
