Weekend Wisdom
Sirach, Chapter One
22 A furious man cannot be justified; for the sway of his fury shall be his destruction. 23 A patient man will tear for a time, and afterward joy shall spring up unto him. When faith is chained to doctrine, truth becomes heresy and God is forgotten. |

Sirach, chapter 31
[25] Do not aim to be valiant over wine, for wine has destroyed many. [26] Fire and water prove the temper of steel, so wine tests hearts in the strife of the proud. [27] Wine is like life to men, if you drink it in moderation. What is life to a man who is without wine? It has been created to make men glad. [28] Wine drunk in season and temperately is rejoicing of heart and gladness of soul. [29] Wine drunk to excess is bitterness of soul, with provocation and stumbling. [30] Drunkenness increases the anger of a fool to his injury, reducing his strength and adding wounds. When faith is chained to doctrine, truth becomes heresy and God is forgotten. |

Proverbs 15
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. <BR class=ii>2The tongue of the wise dispenses knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour outfolly. <BR class=ii>3The eyes of the <SPAN class=sc>Lord</SPAN> are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. <BR class=ii>4A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit. <BR class=ii>5A fool despises a parentâs instruction, but the one who heeds admonition is prudent. <BR class=ii>6In the house of the righteous there is much treasure, but trouble befalls the income of the wicked. <BR class=ii>7The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the minds of fools. <BR class=ii> When faith is chained to doctrine, truth becomes heresy and God is forgotten. |

Luke
6:22 "Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and insult you and reject you as evil on account of the Son of Man! 6:23 Rejoice in that day, and jump for joy, because your reward is great in heaven. For their ancestors did the same things to the prophets. When faith is chained to doctrine, truth becomes heresy and God is forgotten. |

Philippians 2
<SPAN class=versenum>2:14</SPAN> Do everything without grumbling or arguing, <A name="Php 2:15"></A><SPAN class=versenum>2:15</SPAN> so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without blemish though you live in a crooked and perverse society, in which you shine as lights in the world When faith is chained to doctrine, truth becomes heresy and God is forgotten. |

Ecclesiates
3:12 I have concluded that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to enjoy themselves as long as they live, 3:13 and also that everyone should eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all his toil, for these things are a gift from God. When faith is chained to doctrine, truth becomes heresy and God is forgotten. |

1 Peter
4:7 For the culmination of all things is near. So be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of prayer. 4:8 Above all keep your love for one another fervent, because love covers a multitude of sins. 4:9 Show hospitality to one another without complaining. When faith is chained to doctrine, truth becomes heresy and God is forgotten. |
