Steve.

A very prominent and respected Elder in the Molokan community once said, that if the devil himself gave words of encouragement and edification, he would pull it right out of his mouth.

I could not disagree with him more.

Eve believed the Serpent to be a messenger from God. She was not able to descern between good and evil. Book 2 articles 10 and 11

Thanks! I agree with youanddisagree with the elders statement wholeheartedly as well. The devil is cunning and as the Scriptures say:

2nd Corinthians 11:

1 I hope you will put up with a little of my foolishness; but you are already doing that. 2 I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. 3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

and it goes on further to warn us...

14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Satan is not what halloween trys to portray an ugly man with horns and red, rather he is a deceiver!

An elder recently told me an analogy summed up into making a pot of soup... you can have all the right ingredients, vegetables, fresh herbs, etc...but add a deadly ingredient and it will kill you.

Thanks guys for the clarification and references, Have a great weekend!

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
