I don't know if the administrators will keep this in the Forum Rules section, but I hope they do.

Please, help protect your friends by keeping your computer free of viruses.

Here is a free online scan tool. Share it with your friends.

People make new viruses all the time. Scan your computer at least once a week. Preferably, go out and buy active anti-virus software such as Norton Anti-Virus or TrendMicro's PC-cillin.

Also, use a firewall. Windows XP operating system now comes with a built in firewall, or you can buy a firewall (software or hardware version) at your local computer store.

Thank you.

Protecting your PC should be a rule. If anyone thinks thier PC alone is at risk is fooling themsleves. A Virus will always replicate itself and send it to everyone in your address book. Whats worse, they seldom appear as from you, instead they appear from someone else in your address book.

Example: User's Tom, Jane and Stanley are friends. User Tom gets a Virus and it begins sending out replica's of itself via e-mail. However, it uses Stanley's e-mail address (not program) to send it to Jane and Jane's to send it to Stanley. Thus it appears Jane and Stanley are sending each other virus's but in reality its Tom's computer mimicing Jane and Stanley.

Here's some sites that provide free protection:

http://www.zonealarm.com/ - Zone Alarm

This is a free firewall software, if you don't have a firewall, get this one.

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ -Adaware

Provides someAdware, Malware, Spyware removal.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html -Spybot

Provides someAdware, Malware, Spyware removal.

http://toolbar.yahoo.com -Yahoo Toolbar

If you don't mind having a toolbar, Yahoo has one that removes spyware, etc.

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ -Firefox

It you don't mind changing your browser, I've heard a lot of good things about this one. Haven't used it myself, but hear lots of good things about this one.

Furthermore, most Internet Service Providers provide some free Firewall, Spyware, and/or Virus protection. But it doesn't work if you don't download, run it and update it often.

Also, if you have Windows XP, download Service Pack 2. This comes with some protection as well.

Bottom line, if you want to destroy your $450 to $2000+ PC, do so with a hammer not by Virur's, Trojans, etc.Otherwise you will be destroying or attempting to destroy all your friends expensive PC's.
