Why is the Religion and Faith Topic area off limits to all except to Molokan Underground Members?
1. Religious discussions can be like train wrecks. You know you should look away and not watch, but you just can't tear your eyes away. Hence, we take care of that problem by not allowing it to be viewed. 2. Lets face facts, there are disgruntled former Molokans out there and they only have one agenda, disrupt Molokans anyway they can and attacking and bashing the Religion is the easiest way to do it (as it is for any religion). This was an experience that occured a long time ago in another forum. It was set up to cater to Molokans, well, the disgruntled ones followed and spun off attacks from there into another forum. Hence, the Molokan Underground was formed in reaction. 3. People lack respect, particularly with anonymity on the Internet. Its one thing to disagree and argue sensibly, but its rude, inconsiderate and childish to bash, name call, etc. one's Religion, Heritage and family. Put it this way, you wouldn't walk into a Catholic Church (or any other Religions church) and then decry that they are all Heretics and are doomed to hell. If you would, then you have issues. Seek help. What are the requirements to become a Molokan Underground member and see/participate in the Religion & Faith Topics? 1. The best way and preferred method is to be referred by another member. If you know someone personally who is, ask them to refer you. 2. We do have a litmus test. a. Trinity Doctrine of the Ecumenical Councils, that is, the doctrines adopted by Emperor Constantine of the Roman Empire and his convened councils are NOT recognized here. b. Spirit and Life book is recognized and accepted here. Furthermore, a traditional interpretation of it is encouraged, but we do allow and encourage new ideas as well. Extremist views of worshipping individuals in this bookare not tolerated. We do not subscribe to those beliefs as often disgruntled former Molokans wrongfully and maliciouslyoften try to stereotype our Members and Members of our Religion. c. Why do we have these two beliefs as requirements? If you look on the majority of the other forums, these are the two topics that are endlessly argued over. Also, its been going on for several years. This puts an end to it and allows and encourages other discussion. In the old forums, this had a very positive affect. 3. Finally we require you name, church of attendance, and phone number. This is used for verification purpose's. We do not allow anonymous members. You may remain anonymous to the other members, however the administrators will know who you are. PM this information to the Admin's. a. We require your identity for a very simple reason. Disgruntled former Molokans have before and will continue attempt to disrupt our activities. However, they have always been reluctant to give thier name. This has proved to be a very effective tool in screening. Any regular attending Molokan would not have a problem in having a good religious discussion amongst other members in church or home. Hence, we feel this shouldn't be a problem, unless you have questionable motives. b. We ask for which church you belong to purely for trying to identify you. Lets face it, certain names are very common amongst our people. Church affiliation has nothing to do with acceptance to the Molokan Underground. Its merely there so we can get the right individual. c. Why the Phone number? If you were referred by a member, chances are we won't call you in most cases. If you do not have a referral, chances are we will have to call you. Why? Guess. Someone attempted to enter our old site by giving a name of an individual they were not. It was caught since that individual already had access. If you have question on religion or faith but are not a member, you may PM the Admin with the question. It will then be submitted to the Religious Topic area for discussion. At the discretion of the Admins or Molokan Underground Members, you will be PM updates on the discussion. This will allow some anonymity but still keep the Religion and Faith Topic section from degenerating to a free for all. RedO,
Is there a way I can get access to the religious discussions without "write" access. In other words, can I view them but not post or reply? Thanks, ybelieve |

ybelieve Wrote:RedO,Ummm....let me think about that....ummm....NO. Whats to stop someone expressing thier religious view, have someone read it....and then verbally attack them via PM's, e-mail...or another forum? EVERYONE gave thier identity to have access to that section. Many do not post and just read. I'm not changing the rules. Good points, they makesense. I didn't think of all the ways a person could maliciously attack the person.
Thanks, ybelieve |
