10th Annual Spirit of the Mountains Photo Contest Begins

The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area has kicked off its tenth annual Spirit of the Mountains Photo Contest for the month of September.
Any photo taken within the Recreation Area’s federal lands or state or local parks is eligible in a number of categories, including new ones like “Young Photographers” and “Cell Phone Snapshots,” so even your Hipstamatic iPhone shot is good to go this year.
Entries are accepted through September 30th and the winners will be celebrated in a ceremony on October 15th. Their photos will be featured in NPS publications about the Santa Monica Mountains and put on display at the Thousand Oaks Visitor Center.
