Please Don’t Speed on the Angeles Crest

The Angeles Crest Highway has only been open since June, but over the weekend it suffered its fourth fatality since that re-opening. According to investigations by the California Highway Patrol, all of the accidents were due to excessive speed – and in once case, alcohol was involved.
As a result of these incidents, Caltrans will be evaluating signage and enforcement, and the CHP will be stepping up its monitoring of the road as well. From July 30th to the 31st, officers issued 60 speeding tickets and other moving violations along the road.
Please remember that the CA-2 is not a freeway – it’s a mountain road shared by cars, motorcycles, cyclists, hikers and wildlife. Take it easy up there and help make sure everyone else who’s enjoying the Forest can get home safely, too!
